Why Brad Pitt And Ben Affleck Never Worked A Film Together

There are certain duos fans have always wanted to see. Finally, we got to see one of them come to fruition, like Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt putting on a grand performance alongside one another in 'Once Upon A Time In Hollywood'.

Fans wanted the two in a film together and many thought it would never happen due to a rumored rift but clearly, that wasn't the case.

The film was huge for Pitt as he took home the honors for 'Best Supporting Actor' at the 'Academy Awards' and given his speech, he and Leo really hit it off, pretty much Ben Affleck and Matt Damon style.

What makes this case especially surprising is the fact that the two share very mutual friends, not to mention that they've undergone similar battles in the past. Both have been very vocal about their addiction struggles. Yet, despite the similarities, they've always done their own routes when it comes to film.

We'll take a look as to why that has been the case, along with their unique connection similarities off camera. Who knows, maybe down the road they finally join forces and create some buzz.

Mutual Friends And Similar Dark Roads

This is truly the odd part of it all, how the two A-list celebs share mutual friends in the business. Let's take a look at Affleck's best friend, Matt Damon. He hasn't avoided films alongside Pitt, in fact, it is very much the opposite.

According to That Actor, the two appeared in eight films together! From 'Ocean's Eleven' to 'The Departed', to so many other classics.

Off-camera, it is the same thing. The two share several mutual friends, including Bradley Cooper, who was a huge part in getting both stars clean and sober.

Affleck discussed his relationship with Bradley and the impact it had on his well-being, "Bradley and Robert have been really helpful to me, and really supportive," Affleck said. "They're wonderful men."

"These are guys who have been very supportive and to whom I feel a great sense of gratitude," he said. "One of the things about recovery that I think people sometimes overlook is the fact that it inculcates certain values."

Pitt would also release a statement about his recovery and how Cooper was such a vital part of the process.

"Thank you, Bradley. Bradley just put his daughter to bed and rushed over here to do this," Pitt said, referring to Cooper's 2-year-old daughter, Lea. "He's a sweetheart. I got sober because of this guy and every day has been happier ever since. I love you and I thank you."

Both are in a great place these days. Affleck seems to be fully recovered and he's doing great alongside his familiar flame, Jennifer Lopez. The same goes for Pitt who is clean and sober these days.

Given their current standings, maybe we'll finally see the two alongside one another. However, given the way history has gone, that seems very unlikely.

Busy Schedules Then And Now

We really can't pinpoint a specific reason as to why the two have never worked alongside one another.

Neither has issued a statement, therefore, the only reason has to be their crazy busy schedules, which really began to get packed up during the '90s, when both men became huge stars.

Perhaps the fact that two are most likely always the leads played a big role. We really can't imagine Pitt appearing in any of Ben's classics such as 'Good Will Hunting' or heck, something as recent as 'Batman.'

The same goes for Affleck appearing in Pitt's films, movies like 'Fight Club' had smaller budgets, with Pitt's co-star Ed Norton making less than half his earnings.

As great as it would be to see the two stars in a film in the near future, that seems less likely given their schedules. Pitt is already involved with a slew of films, including 'Blonde', 'Bullet Train', 'The Lost City of D' and 'Babylon'.

The same goes for Affleck, working on projects like 'The Last Duel', 'Deep Water', 'The Flash', and later, 'The Tender Bar'.

There is still time for something to take place between the two, though at the moment, it doesn't seem likely as their careers continue to branch off in different directions.

Despite the same struggles and same friends, the two continue to march on in different directions, both personally and professionally.
